Fiona Maddison

Fi Maddison started her writing career in 1999 in Alexandra, Central Otago, as a stringer, writing for The Mirror.

Her ongoing experience ranges from working for community newspapers in the areas of advertising feature and news writing, photography, and advertising sales; head writer and features editor for a nationwide home and lifestyle magazine, homestyle; and in the animal welfare industry as promotions officer for SPCA Canterbury covering a wide range of duties such as PR, promotion, and fundraising. Her role as promotions officer allowed Fi to use her creative talents to promote the organisation through advertising, the internet, marketing collateral, media opportunities and events.


Fi is a freelance writer, editor, and photographer and, until most recently, owner and publisher of a small community newspaper, The Oxford Observer, a much anticipated and loved community publication meeting the needs of local communities.
